Shrimpapalooza is an annual shrimp boil in Washington, DC, hosted by Louisiana native Tyler Savoy and his wife Lauren. This is its 12th year, having started as a humble boil with a single pot and 30 friends in their backyard and grown to a 6-pot, 150+ person event at a brewery. Regardless of venue or size, it's steeped in the deep traditions of Tyler's heritage and anchored in the core values of community and gathering around a shared love of food.
Every year, the Savoys fundraise for a cause near and dear to their hearts. This year's nonprofit is The Potter's House, a bookstore, cafe, and gathering place in Adams Morgan, DC. The Potter's House is committed to bringing its community together and extending hospitality to all - a mission that deeply resonates with the Savoys and the spirit of Shrimpapalooza. As a newly-elected Board member, Lauren is excited to serve as an ambassador for this organization and its important mission. Specifically, monies raised will support the Pay it Forward program, which offers free meals to anyone in need.
